Greetz all.
My HP Ipaq h2200 has been bricked, yet I can't get why: I haven't
modified rom, tryed to use lab or anything else. I've been working
with WiCE to find yesterday morning that it just won't turn on.
I thought it was the battery and I plugged it into the charger. Well I
just got a blink of screen for a second and then it went blank
(without backlight) again. When the charger is plugged and for some
time when you unplug it all three leds are on. They are not flashing,
just on. When I unplugged the charger they were on for some time and
then turned off. The pda doesn't turn on, hard and soft reset don't do
anything. It's as good as a brick =(
Anyone can help sort out what happened? Or maybe that meens that WinCE
is itself dangerous for hardware =) ?

I am using SD card with haret + zImage from /boot directory from that

gpe booted, all worked great, but at the and I wanted to reboot back to

with "reboot" command. but lcd goes to white and after reset with button,
both LEDs (yellow&blue) are always ON, but LCD is always off.
what does it mean? I didn't flash anything , only booted from haret...

Have no fear, it is not dead. Try this:

1. Remove the battery.
2. Plug it back into the cradle momentarily, then remove from the cradle.
3. Replace the battery, and plug back into the cradle. It should
restart. If not, try pressing reset.

If the above procedure doesn't work, try leaving the battery out for a
few minutes (10-15 minutes).

Thanks for advice, I've tried that.

I've tried the above procedure in all diffent variants possible.
Nothing seems to be working. The only thing I get is that the LCD
flashes white for a millisecond (with baclight) and then the screen is
blank, with no backlight again =(
Some more details about the problem.
I've noticed that all THREE leds are on (the light isn't actually
yellow).
The leds are only on, when the charger is plugged. The battery is ok:
the trouble happened when it was about 30-40%. I've also tested it
with a voltege meter and my own tongue (seems ok =) ) I've tried charging it
in the cradle as well. The result is the same.
The part of the pda near the contacts to which the battery attaches
becomes warm rather soon(5-7 mins), when the charger is connected. I don't know, if that's ok for h2200, since
I've never made notice of such facts.
I wasn't rebooting afteer linux, when that happened. The device was
suspended in winCE.
The really weird thing is, that
none of emergency eycombos work =(.
softreset - no
hard reset - no
(Don't now its name. The combo, that gets seril console for reflash
and other stuff) - no result.
The strange combo that usually showed an emergency truck on a red
screen - no result.
heh... Anyone knows if they charge much for pda
repairs at the service centre? (the warranty already expired).
And is there a way to get at least the files from iPAQ file store?

good news: not a brick.

not sure how you have 3 LEDs, I only have 2.

This is not an uncommon issue and is fairly easy to fix. The easiest way (and most brutal) is to remove your battery and unplug the ipaq - let it sit for at least 10 minutes (maybe more).
put your battery back in and IF the LEDs are off, hit the reset key. If they aren't off, you need to take your battery out and let it sit a while longer.

the more complicated way, but perhaps nicer to your backup battery is to remove your battery and close the cover, then while pressing the reset key, plug it in to the charger (can't be done with the cradle, need a standalone cable). The problem with this method is that you now have no battery in your ipaq and you have to swap it in (usually possible on a suspend without needing a reset)

bricking (true bricking) is actually very hard to do from everything I have read.

Hey, I got into that state sometimes.

I usually curse and mumble while pressing Reset Contacts itask many
times, jump around, shout scream rage.... Leave all 3 pressed for like
1 minute, then reset or press other buttons.

Eventually something happens and i get it back to normal.

Luckily, I've not had to reset my ipaq it's been a long time. Love linux.

Good Day, everyone.
Thanks to all, who replied.
The bad news is that nothing helped =(
I've tried leaving the battery out for some time (8 hours), pressing
reset while plugging the cable and... And nothing
seems to help. The only thing I get is a second flash of white screen
with backlight and all the leds. (Not sure about the green one on -
yhey are just strangeky bright, as if there's more voltage to tham as
usual.) I've left the pda with no battery for one night and
tried again today morning... /dev/null =( The pda doesn't seem to
react to any buttons pressed, while the battey is in and only gets the
leds on when I plug the charger.

Have you tried leaving the battery out, closing the battery door, and
putting it on the cradle, so it's running on AC with no battery?
